Belize

Here starts the week in Belize.

Unfortunately we’re a man down because of passport woes but he’ll meet us here tomorrow. This has also changed our first couple days plans. We’re staying just outside downtown Belize City. The city itself can be unsavory at night (or so i’ve heard) so we’ve dedicated our night to reading, writing, and watching Men in Black on TV (“I make this look good.”)

We bought a few groceries and took a walk around the neighborhood today. It’s mostly residential with little markets dotting the streets marked with coca-cola signs. Not to compare but it reminds me a bit of rural philippines.

The expat community here is surprising, our hostel and much of our block is owned by chinese families, the grocery store we walked had men conversing in arabic, and even a house we passed had a filipino sticker on a car.

This is probably all for now, to the mayan ruins tomorrow!
